Hello, my name is Mark. I’m a dance addict but in remission at the moment.

The most recent focus of my addiction was Argentine tango. It used to be modern jive and it could have been west coast swing if I’d found a class I could get to regularly. I tried salsa for a while and then “discovered” Argentine tango in September 2008. Things haven’t been the same since.

In 2010 I had a 6 month sabbatical in Buenos Aires to dance tango and this blog was born to record my experiences there.

In 2011 I quit my job and embarked on a year long round the world trip which seriously curtailed my dancing activities. Blogging continued but with my travels as the subject. When I got back to Buenos Aires in November that year I found tango no longer had the same appeal it used to. Blogging and travelling continued and I returned to Buenos Aires again in January 2012 but still minus my tango mojo.

So right now I’m taking a break from dancing in general and tango in particular. Instead I’m working my way round some of the warm water, sunny parts of the world as a diving instructor.

I’ve always maintained tango is a lifetime journey. It’ll still be there when I decide the time is right to get back to it.
